A destination marketing organization for the United States, Brand USA organized its 11th India Sales and Media Mission last month in Hyderabad, India.
The event was led by Fred Dixon, president and CEO of Brand USA, alongside senior officials Chris Heywood, Angie Briggs, and Jackie Ennis.
Six CEOs representing U.S. destinations and a luxury receptive agency participated, including Simon Brooks (Bonotel), John Percy (Destination Niagara USA), Doug Bourgeois (Louisiana Office of Tourism), Martha Sheridan (Meet Boston), Todd Davidson (Travel Oregon), and Liz Bittner (Travel South USA). The mission featured 48 U.S. tourism companies and 67 U.S. exhibitors, engaging with 123 senior Indian decision-makers from the travel trade and media.
The USA recorded 2.19 million arrivals from India in 2024, marking a 24.3 percent increase from 2023. India ranked second among overseas arrivals (excluding Canada and Mexico) and fourth for total international arrivals.
“We are extremely pleased to see strong arrival numbers from India to the USA, validating our past efforts and reaffirming our commitment for the future,” said Dixon. “As one of our top overseas markets, we are extremely bullish on Indian visitor arrivals and are committed to building stronger partnerships.”
Upcoming attractions in the USA include Universal Orlando’s Epic Universe Park, Disneyland’s 70th anniversary, and Virginia Beach’s Atlantic Park. Sporting events such as the FIFA Club World Cup in 2025 and the 2026 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada, are expected to drive further tourism. The centennial of Route 66 and the America 250 celebrations in 2026 will also contribute to increased visitor interest.
The organization, also noted that air connectivity between the two countries is expanding, with Air India operating nonstop flights to five U.S. cities and deploying the Airbus A350 on key routes. European and Southeast Asian carriers have also strengthened one-stop connections to the USA via their hubs.
