“Life. Liberty. The Pursuit of Happiness. These are the ideals I was always told America represents. That’s not the case anymore. I’m running to bring that sense of patriotism and national pride back,” Thankur maintained.

The Indian American said during his first week in Congress he will propose legislation to annihilate the Patriot Act, stop the mess at the Southern Border and institute a temporary immigration moratorium.

Few proposals in Thakur’s agenda include strengthening the national defense, ensuring best education qualities for children, staying away from foreign wars and conflicts, protecting constitutional principles, investing in America's growth, and planning a future filled with technological advancements.

Born in New Delhi, Thakur was raised by his grandparents. He immigrated to the States in the 1980s and went on to serve in the US Navy. After completing his service, he worked in a California-based power company where he built and operated Co-gen power plants.

His touching tribute to his grandfather and the late Alex Trebek resonated with millions of Americans, highlighting the importance of empathy, family, and the American Dream.

“The time is now and the stakes have never been higher to ensure people like myself get the opportunity to legislate. I am a fighter with a mindset of playing to win, not playing it safe,” Thakur highlighted on his website.
