In an effort to highlight the significance of air travel connections between Victoria, a state in southeastern Australia and India, the Australia India Institute has introduced its Aana Jaana report.
The term "Aana Jaana," commonly used in India to signify movement back and forth, reflects the desire to comprehensively comprehend the importance of reestablishing interpersonal ties between the two nations following the travel disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, a release stated.
“The demand for travel between cities in India, one of the world’s strongest economies, and Melbourne, a global city growing at a rapid pace, is already high. With the largest Indian diaspora and strong student representation in major universities, Victoria is well-placed to take advantage of India’s powerful position at the forefront of the global economy,” said Lisa Singh, the institute’s CEO. “India has so much to offer the world, and there is an opportunity to build on established links already in place in Australia.”
According to the report, existing direct air connections between Victoria and India are already playing a crucial role in the post-pandemic revival of travel, trade, and investment. Enhancing air connectivity further has the potential to facilitate the growth of trade in goods and services, as well as the movement of people, between Victoria and India. Additionally, it can open up new avenues for opportunities and collaborations.
Furthermore, the report emphasizes the potential for expanded trade, educational collaborations, business ventures, cultural exchanges, tourism, and family visits in both Australia and India if flight options can be fully optimized and extended to their maximum potential.
