The Hindu community in Canada has expressed deep concerns over inflammatory remarks made by leader of pro-Khalistani group, Sikhs For Justice (SFJ), Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.
The Khalistani hardliner, who had previously threatened the community by asking them to “go back to India” recently issued fresh threats after Indians participated in huge numbers in a rally at Mel Lastman Square in Toronto condemning the Hamas attacks on Israel.
In a video message, Pannun shared a clip of the Indians participation in the rally and expressed support for Hamas. He further issued explicit threats directed at Indian Consulates situated in G7 nations, Canada included.
“”On October 21 G7 Nations, from Canada to Australia, Sikhs for Justice is going to shut down terror houses of India in Vancouver, Washington DC, London, Frankfurt, and Milan. The People of Palestine shut down the Indian terror house in Ramallah and removed Renu Yadav,” Pannun stated.
The Hindu Forum Canada in an email addressed to Canada’s Minister for public safety, Dominic LeBlanc, flagged Pannun’s remarks and called for appropriate action to be taken against him.“We strongly urge you to consider barring his entry to Canada if he is not a Canadian citizen. If he is indeed a Canadian citizen, we implore that he be investigated and charged in connection with hate crimes,” the email read.
The forum also underlined the community's firm stance against any form of hate and violence, advocating for the safety and security of all Canadians.
Meanwhile, Hindu Canadian MP, Chandra Arya said in post on X, “Khalistan movement leader in Canada and Sikhs for Justice’s Pannu, continuing his attacks on Hindus in Canada and elsewhere, has declared Canadian Khalistan Group’s full support to terrorists who attacked Israel. Nothing more need to be said.”
