On September 18, Indian-origin Canadian Member of Parliament (MP), Jagmeet Singh, expressed a strong commitment to pursue justice regarding the killing of Khalistani terrorist Harjeet Singh Nijjar in Surrey back in June.

Singh's statement, posted on X (formerly Twitter), was made shortly after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau suggested a "potential link" between Indian government agents and the assassination of Harjeet Singh Nijjar, who served as the head of the banned Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF). Trudeau's government also took the step of expelling a senior Indian diplomat.

“Today we learned of allegations that agents of the Indian Government murdered Hardeep Singh Nijjar - a Canadian killed on Canadian soil,” Singh, a prominent Sikh leader, tweeted. “I will leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of justice, including holding PM Narendra Modi accountable,” he further said.

He went on to appeal to the commissioner in charge of the public inquiry into foreign interference to include an examination of India's foreign interference in Canada in the work of the inquiry.

“I am urgently writing to you today to ask that you include an examination of India’s foreign interference in Canada in the work of the Inquiry. The intelligence referenced publicly by Prime Minister Trudeau yesterday that shows that agents of the Indian government are linked to the killing of a Canadian citizen - Hardeep Singh Nijjar - on Canadian soil, makes the inclusion of India in your work an absolute necessity,” Singh wrote in a letter to Marie-Josee Hogue.
