The Jain Center of America (JCA), the first organized and registered Jain temple in the United States, marked a significant milestone with a grand celebration honoring the 50th anniversary of the arrival of Bhagwan Mahaveer Swami’s pratima (statue) in New York.
India’s Consul General in New York, Binay Srikanta Pradhan, attended the event as the chief guest and praised the JCA for its outstanding contributions to the Jain community in the region.
The 50th-anniversary celebrations highlighted the temple's historical significance and its enduring role in fostering unity and spiritual growth among Jains in America.

“The Jain Center of America has been instrumental in preserving and promoting Jain culture and spirituality among the diaspora,” Consul General Pradhan shared in a post on the Consulate's official X account, accompanied by photos from the event.
The JCA, established in the mid-1960s to cater to the spiritual needs of Jain immigrants in New York, holds the distinction of being the earliest Jain temple of its kind in the United States.
