Children's Hope India (CHI), a NY-based nonprofit organization dedicated to aiding underprivileged children, has announced the recipients of its annual Spring Luncheon awards.
Set to take place on May 8 at Leonard's Palazzo in New York, the event aims to support CHI's "30/30 Education Initiative," providing essential educational resources to children enrolled in its centers.
Roopa Unnikrishnan, senior vice president of Strategy and Corporate Development at IDEX Corporation, has been named this year's Woman of Distinction. Unnikrishnan is a recipient of the President's Arjuna Award and a Rhodes Scholar.
Alongside her, Avani Modi Sarkar, co-founder of Modi Toys, and Jeena Raghavan, an artist and Parsons graduate, will be recognized as Rising Stars.
CHI's president, Dr. Dina Pahlajani, emphasized the importance of empowering women and girls through education and entrepreneurship. "This year's CHI Spring Luncheon is all about celebrating the power of women. Empowering women and girls through education and entrepreneurship is crucial for their success in today's world."
The event will also feature a showcase of products from 17 female entrepreneurs, including Rising Stars Avani Modi Sarkar and Jeena Raghavan, as well as Gopi Vaid and Ranna Gill. 15 percent of proceeds from sales will contribute to CHI's "30/30 Education Initiative,” a release mentioned.
Since its inception in 1992, Children's Hope India has positively impacted over 156,000 children. It strives to nurture children from infancy to successful careers through comprehensive support encompassing education, nutrition, medical care, and career development.
