“Classically Yours” celebrates Indian classical music in New Jersey

The event exemplified the power of music to unite communities while preserving and promoting the classical roots of Indian music.

Over 300 people, including music enthusiasts and community supporters, attended the "Classically Yours" musical concert, which was organized by Foram Music with Foram Shah and Sanjay Shah on Dec. 8 at Royal Albert's Palace in New Jersey.

The evening featured performances by 14 singers and four musicians, who brought to life over 75 years of raag-based songs from Indian cinema. The concert highlighted melodies rooted in classical ragas such as Khamaj, Yaman, Shivranjani, and Malgunji, among others. Foram Shah and Sanjay Shah, both accomplished vocalists, also performed mesmerizing numbers, captivating the audience.

Participants in the event included members of an exclusive music workshop led by Foram and Sanjay Shah throughout the year. The workshop focused on nurturing classical singing skills, culminating in this grand showcase of over 30 songs. Each performer received a Certificate of Completion in recognition of their dedication and training.

The event was supported by Grand Sponsor Piyush Patel, a prominent business entrepreneur in New Jersey. Jayesh Mehta of SACHA served as the master of ceremonies, ensuring a seamless and engaging program.

According to Foram Shah there are many singing groups in the tri-state area, but theylack the discipline and guidance needed to truly excel. She expressed her commitment to raising awareness about Indian classical music and emphasized the importance of mentoring younger generations. 

The evening concluded with a social gathering featuring appetizers and dinner, further enriching the cultural experience.
