The Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA) launched its Chicago chapter at an event in Willowbrook, a Chicago suburb. Several Hindu organizations and citizens attended the event.
Bharat Barai, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America (VHPA) founder and the recipient of the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards by the Government of India, delivered the keynote address. In his address, he emphasized the need to engage with the younger generation of Hindus and encourage them to participate actively in politics and activism .
The event included several panel discussions, including on Hinduphobia and Hindu parenting. Speaking on the occasion, author Deepa Bhaskaran Salem emphasized the need for Hindu parents to impart rich Hindu heritage to the next generation through Itihasa and Puranas, rituals, and philosophy. Abhimanyu Gupta, a high school junior also spoke at the occasion.
CoHNA board members Pushpita Prasad and Yagnes Patel also spoke at the occasion and apprised the audience of the organization's mission and activities.
