Come Fall in Love – The DDLJ Musical, based on the iconic Bollywood blockbuster Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ), will make its UK debut at Manchester Opera House from May.29 to Jun.21, 2025.
The musical is directed by Aditya Chopra, the original director of the record-breaking 1995 film, which remains the longest-running title in Indian cinema.
The production reimagines the beloved romantic comedy for the stage, blending vibrant storytelling with 18 new songs. It follows the story of Simran, a young British Indian woman torn between an arranged marriage and her love for Rog, a carefree British man. Themes of cultural collision and familial expectations take center stage in this lively adaptation.
Producers have announced an open casting call for South Asian performers with exceptional singing, dancing, and acting skills. Interested candidates should send their CV, headshot, contact details, and a two-minute audition video to comefallinlovecasting@gmail.com by Jan.7, 2025. Auditions will commence on Jan.13, 2025, with successful applicants joining rehearsals in London from Apr.14, 2025.
“All genders are welcome to apply,” the producers emphasized, adding, “Submission does not guarantee an audition.”
The award-winning creative team includes Nell Benjamin (book writer and lyricist), Vishal Dadlani and Sheykhar Ravjiani (composers), Rob Ashford (choreographer), Derek McLane (set designer), and casting director David Grindrod CDG.
