Bisni Narayanan, an Indian American pharmacist, has been elected president of the Connecticut Pharmacists Association (CPA) during the organization’s annual ceremony in Bristol, Connecticut.
She is the first person of Indian origin to lead the CPA, founded in 1876 by John K. Williams and Alfred Daggett. its mission is to promote the practice and interests of pharmacy in Connecticut.
Narayanan holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and a Master of Science in Pharmacology from St. John’s University, New York. She also has an MBA from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.
She has over 15 years of experience in community pharmacy; she leads as a pharmacy supervisor for the specialty and outpatient pharmacy services at Yale New Haven Health System.
Narayanan’s career spans various roles, including working for the biotech startup CuraGen Corporation in Branford, CT. She is also a freelance medical writer, creating educational content such as needs assessments and continuing education activities.
Additionally, she serves as faculty for the University of Connecticut’s Medical Writing Certificate Program and is an active member of the CPA’s education committee. She also volunteers with the Medical Reserve Corps of the Westport Weston Health District.
At the CPA event, Narayanan was honored with the Pharmacy Leadership Award from the National Community Pharmacists Association.
