India’s capital city, New Delhi has earned a place in Euromonitor International’s Top 100 City Destinations Index 2024, securing the 74th position. It is the only Indian city to secure a place on the list.

The global index evaluates cities on six key pillars, including tourism performance, sustainability, infrastructure, and health and safety.

Delhi's inclusion underscores its growing prominence as a global tourist hub, with its unique blend of historical landmarks, diverse cuisine, and modern infrastructure capturing international attention.

The 2024 index crowned Paris as the world’s top city destination for the fourth consecutive year, followed by Madrid, Tokyo, Rome, and Milan. New York City ranked sixth, making it the highest-positioned U.S. city.

European cities dominated the top 10, bolstered by strong tourism infrastructure and sustainability initiatives.
Asian cities like Tokyo, and Bangkok also made notable appearances, reflecting the region's growing influence in global tourism. Bangkok led in international arrivals with 32 million visitors in 2024.

Delhi's placement on the list despite the smothering smog situation that plagues it, highlights India's rising stature in the global tourism sector. The recognition is expected to further boost international tourist interest, strengthening India's position as a vibrant and culturally rich travel destination.
