Ajay Bhutoria, Deputy National Finance Chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), reiterated his support for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, expressing confidence in the duo’s ability to beat Republicans Donald Trump and J.D. Vance in the Nov.5 elections.
Amid calls for Biden to give up his bid, Bhutoria urged the Democratic party members to stand united in endorsing Biden as their candidate by outlining the achievements under his presidency.
Bhutoria stated, “All Democrats, including elected officials at every level, members of Congress, and the Senate, must channel their energy into highlighting the stark differences between President Biden's record of achievement and the destructive agenda outlined in Trump's Project 2025.”
"We're not just campaigning against an opponent; we're fighting for the soul of our nation," Bhutoria continued. "President Biden is our candidate because he stands for the values and progress that benefit all Americans."
Bhutoria further asked Democratic Party officials, analysts, and supporters to focus their efforts on talking about the concrete effects of Trump's policies and comparing them to accomplishments made by Biden and Harris. He underlined the significance of delivering a concise message to voters regarding the course of the nation.
"Through 57 caucuses and primaries, Joe Biden has demonstrated broad support, receiving 14 million votes and over 3900 delegates," Bhutoria said. "It's imperative that every voice within the Democratic Party unites in this critical moment to defend our progress and shape a better future for all Americans,” he added.
According to Bhutoria, Project 2025 presents a bleak image of what might happen if Trump were to become president, with risks to healthcare access, Social Security, Medicare, and economic justice among other things. The plan also identifies threats to environmental preservation and coalitions for national security.
President Biden recently unveiled his ambitious 100-day plan for 2025 in a speech in Detroit. He reiterated his pledges to uphold Roe v. Wade safeguards, promote voting rights legislation, handle medical debt, increase the minimum wage, and take the lead on global climate action and sustainable energy measures.
