The on-going Lok Sabha elections could see the return of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a historic third term, an eminent India-expert has said, while another academician believes that after 10 years of his rule, New Delhi is beginning to fulfill its ambition to playing a role at the global stage.

“By all accounts, it's likely to set new records even by India's long and established history of setting records where elections go. The elections promises to see the largest number of votes ever cast, and it could also see Prime Minister Modi return to power for a historic third term,” Ashley J. Tellis, the Tata Chair for Strategic Affairs and a senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment said at an event on “India in Modi’s Third Term” organized by the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a top US think-tank.
