Over 7,000 students and exchange visitors from India overstayed their US visas in 2023, an immigration expert told the US House Committee on the Judiciary on Jan.22.
Jessica M. Vaughan, director of Policy Studies at the Center for Immigration Studies, testified before Congress and urged immediate reforms to address immigration policy concerns and restore immigration enforcement.
During the hearing, Vaughan cited data showing that India had the highest number of student visa overstays in 2023, with 7,000 cases, outpacing other nations.
