U.S. President Donald Trump has nominated Indian-origin entrepreneur Anji Sinha as the next United States Ambassador to Singapore. The announcement was made on Mar.11 via Trump’s post on the social media platform Truth Social.
“I am happy to announce that Dr. Anji Sinha will be the next United States Ambassador to Singapore. Anji is a highly respected entrepreneur with an incredible family! The United States’ relationship with Singapore is vital, and I have no doubt that Anji will strongly represent our nation’s interests and put America First. Congratulations, Anji!” Trump wrote.
In addition to Sinha, other nominees for key diplomatic roles in Asia have also been announced. Former Georgia Senator David Perdue has been nominated to serve as the U.S. Ambassador to China, while George Glass, a businessman from Oregon with experience in investment banking and real estate, has been chosen as the nominee for Ambassador to Japan.
Pending Senate confirmation, Sinha would assume one of the most important diplomatic assignments in the Asia-Pacific region. Singapore has long been a key strategic ally for the United States, playing a significant role in regional maritime security and acting as a major hub for U.S. business and investment in Asia.
