Renowned chef and restaurateur Vikas Khanna recently hosted Hollywood star Anne Hathaway at his New York City restaurant, Bungalow, marking a deeply emotional moment for the Michelin-starred chef.

Sharing the experience on Instagram, Chef Khanna revealed the personal significance of Hathaway’s visit, rooted in cherished memories of his late sister, Radhika Khanna.

In a heartfelt post, Chef Khanna recalled how he and his sister often watched Hathaway’s iconic 2006 film, The Devil Wears Prada, during her hospital stays while she battled lupus. The movie, he shared, was a source of comfort and joy for his sister, describing it as her “painkiller.”

"I still remember the day I had to delete all the files of The Devil Wears Prada and Sex and the City from my computer. I had saved these files to watch on a loop on hospital beds with my sister. She adored Anne Hathaway and knew all the dialogues by heart. Somehow, I memorized them too. This was her painkiller," he wrote.

Radhika Khanna, who passed away in 2022, was a constant presence in Chef Khanna’s life, and her love for the film made Hathaway’s visit profoundly significant. Reflecting on the moment, he shared, "Somehow, I was so happy to feed her. It's the only way I know to show love and thank people. Thank you, Anne, for taking away her pain when we repeated, 'Everybody wants to be us,' and laughed."

Chef Khanna added a deeply personal touch to his Instagram post by photoshopping his sister into the picture with Hathaway, writing, "I know she was there."

This is not the first time the chef has connected a celebrity visit to his sister’s memory. When actress Jenna Fischer, best known for her role in The Office, dined at Bungalow, it also brought back memories of Radhika.
Anne Hathaway joins a growing list of high-profile guests at Bungalow, including Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, and

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. Despite his restaurant’s glittering clientele, Chef Khanna’s reflections highlight the deeply personal stories behind these encounters.
