An Indian entrepreneur recently credited his Apple Watch with summoning emergency services after his car was involved in a highway crash in the United States. Kuldeep Dhankar, founder of a cloud services company, shared his gratitude for the device’s life-saving technology in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Tech to the Rescue

The accident occurred on California’s busy Interstate 5 when Dhankar’s car was rear-ended while stationary in traffic. Sharing a photo of his severely damaged vehicle, he recounted the swift response that followed. “The car behind was probably a total loss, but we are perfectly safe,” Dhankar wrote. “Apple Watch detected that we were in a crash and auto-called 911. There was an officer on the scene within minutes.”

According to Dhankar, the incident highlighted the effectiveness of modern wearable technology in emergencies. The entrepreneur also praised the California Highway Patrol for their quick action, adding that he was able to continue his journey within 30 minutes of the crash.

“So impressed by Apple Watch and California Highway Patrol,” Dhankar wrote in his post, reflecting both relief and admiration for the systems that worked seamlessly to assist him.

Dhankar’s post quickly gained traction on social media, with users applauding both the Apple Watch and the emergency response team. “Glad you are safe! Apple Watch did its job well,” commented one user. Another wrote, “Take care and stay safe. Technology truly makes a difference.”
