Assemblymember Darshana Patel introduces bill to boost financial aid for students
The bill expands eligibility to transfer students from community colleges to private nonprofit institutions, addressing long-standing disparities in financial aid distribution.

Assemblymember Dr. Darshana Patel introduced Assembly Bill 402 in the California State Assembly on Mar.24, seeking to restore and expand financial aid for students pursuing higher education.
"As the cost of education rises, we need to ensure students have the support they deserve," Patel wrote on X. "AB 402 restores the Cal Grant award to $9,708 and expands eligibility to transfer students, making higher education more accessible."
