In response to the ongoing wildfires affecting Los Angeles communities, BAPS Charities has been actively providing support to displaced families and first responders. The fires, which have devastated regions such as Palisades and Eaton, have left thousands without homes and basic necessities.

BAPS Charities has been working in collaboration with local authorities and emergency response teams to ensure that aid reaches those in need. Volunteers from the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Chino Hills have been instrumental in the effort, helping to gather and distribute essential supplies to shelters and resource centers across the area.

Yogin Patel, an evacuee from Pasadena, has been volunteering with BAPS Charities despite his own displacement. “We know firsthand how overwhelming it feels to leave everything behind,” Patel said. “Volunteering has allowed us to turn our personal challenge into a way to help others.”

Since the fires began, BAPS Charities has donated a variety of essential items, including baby essentials, hygiene products, first aid kits, blankets, and non-perishable food items, to 15 shelters and resource centers throughout Los Angeles, Pasadena, and Altadena. These supplies are aimed at providing immediate relief to those affected by the disaster.

Among the donations, more than 5,000 baby essentials, nearly 12,000 hygiene items, and thousands of water bottles have been delivered to those in need. The supplies are being distributed across various locations, including the Pasadena Convention Center, It’s Bigger Than Us resource hub, and Nativo, among others.

“The road to recovery will be long, but standing together as a community makes it possible,” said Patel. “BAPS Charities is proud to be part of this effort.”
