The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Houston, Texas, held two major events as part of its annual Days of Diwali celebrations. On Oct.30, 2024, the mandir observed Kali Chaudas, featuring a Hanuman Pujan attended by a large gathering of devotees.
The ceremony, highlighted by a special Hanuman Abhishekam, attracted a few prominent guests, including Arun Mundra and other key dignitaries, who joined the devotees in worship. This specific abhishekam, conducted at limited times in the BAPS tradition, is regarded by many as a rare opportunity to seek blessings.
Continuing the festivities, the temple hosted its annual Annakut event on Nov.2, 2024, drawing thousands of devotees and visitors from the Houston area and beyond. The Annakut, a traditional offering of food prepared by temple volunteers, presented hundreds of vegetarian dishes to the divine as a symbol of gratitude. The display, featuring delicacies made by both young and older members of the community, was set up in intricate patterns throughout the temple space.
This annual gathering has become a signature event for the BAPS community in Houston, attracting families who look forward to sharing their cultural heritage with younger generations.
