Beyond H-1B: The road less traveled

If you've ever set foot in America for education or work (or wanted to), you've probably heard of the H-1B visa.

The H-1B is a temporary work visa introduced in 1990 for immigrants in "speciality occupations." The last major revision happened in 2004, setting the annual cap at 85,000 visas—65,000 for those with a bachelor's degree and 20,000 for those with a U.S. master's degree or higher.
