In a significant step toward strengthening India-Fiji relations, the Town Council Library of Labasa, a town in Fiji, saw the opening of the “Bharat Corner,” a resource centre aimed at fostering knowledge exchange between the two nations.
The centre, inaugurated by Labasa Town Council chair Paul Jaduram MBE and Indian High Commissioner P.S. Karthigeyan, reflects Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for deeper educational and cultural links through his 12-Point Action Plan, announced at the recent Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC) Summit.

The newly launched "Bharat Corner" is designed to serve as a hub for learning and cultural exchange, aiming to connect Fiji's population with India's rich traditions and resources. In tandem with this, the event also marked the opening of a Yoga Centre, set up with Vanua Levu Arya Samaj, to promote preventive healthcare.
Karthigeyan, addressing the local community, expressed appreciation for Labasa’s support in launching the initiatives, emphasizing, “People-to-people ties are the foundation of our bilateral relations.”
