Bharat N. Anand named dean of NYU Stern School of Business

His book, The Content Trap, was recognized as a top business book and he also played a key role in shaping online education and expanding access to learning opportunities as Harvard’s vice provost.

New York University has appointed Bharat N. Anand as the new dean of the Leonard N. Stern School of Business, effective August 2025. Anand, a distinguished academic and leader in corporate and digital strategy, currently serves as vice provost at Harvard University and a chaired professor at Harvard Business School (HBS).

NYU president Linda G. Mills and Provost Georgina Dopico announced Anand’s appointment following an international search. Mills expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “NYU is absolutely thrilled with the appointment of Bharat Anand to lead Stern. He is an outstanding choice—deeply strategic, possessed of a global outlook, innovative, highly respected, and exceptionally effective.” She praised his leadership skills, intellectual curiosity, and ability to build common ground, adding, “We are so excited to welcome Bharat Anand to NYU.”
