Indian billionaire businessman Anand Mahindra has praised United Sikhs, a UN-affiliated global NGO, for their humanitarian efforts during the recent wildfires in Los Angeles.

"During the recent fires in Los Angeles, these good Samaritans from the United Sikhs showed the essence of their culture—supporting their communities… A Sunday Salute to them," Mahindra, chairman of the Mahindra Group, wrote in a post on X.

As wildfires ravaged Southern California in early January, United Sikhs mobilized relief efforts, providing meals and essential supplies to those affected.  According to NBC, through their Langar initiative, the organization served over 1,300 meals till Feb.2 alone.

In a statement on X, United Sikhs highlighted their on-ground efforts, saying, "Tirelessly working on the ground, distributing hot meals, fruits, hygiene kits, water, and other essential supplies to those affected. Your compassion lights the way during these challenging times, helping us provide essential meals and support to those affected by the LA wildfires."

Reaffirming their commitment to humanitarian aid, the organization added, "Standing in solidarity with the communities impacted by the devastating LA fires. Guided by the principles of Seva and Sarbat da Bhala, UNITED SIKHS is on the ground providing meals, supplies, and hope to those in need. Together, we can help rebuild lives."

The Los Angeles wildfires have become one of the worst disasters in recent history, with thousands of homes destroyed and multiple fatalities. Strong winds and dry conditions have exacerbated the crisis, making recovery efforts even more difficult.
