Indian actor Vikrant Massey known for his performances in films like 12th Fail, Sector 36, and Sabarmati Express, has announced his decision to retire from acting at the age of 37.
In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Massey revealed that 2025 would mark his final year in the industry, leaving fans stunned and emotional.
"The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and every one of you for your indelible support. But as I move forward, I realise it’s time to recalibrate and go back home. As a Husband, Father & a Son. And also as an Actor," Massey wrote in his announcement.
Reflecting on his journey, he added, "So coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right. Last 2 movies and many years of memories. Thank you again. For everything and everything in between." He concluded the note with "forever indebted."
Massey is currently working on two films, Yaar Jigri and Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, which are expected to be his final cinematic appearances. Fans expressed disbelief and support in the comments, with many urging him to reconsider. One user wrote, "I hope it’s not true," while another commented, "Fill your cup then be back."
Some fans drew comparisons to other actors who stepped away from the limelight, with one remarking, "Why you want to become the next Imran Khan of Bollywood? We already lost one of the finest actors just because he chose family."
Vikrant Massey’s career trajectory has been a testament to his versatility and talent. He began his journey on television with Dhoom Machao Dhoom and gained recognition through shows like Balika Vadhu. His transition to films was marked by his critically acclaimed performance in Konkona Sen Sharma's A Death in the Gunj. Over the years, Massey has starred in hits like Chhapaak, Haseen Dillruba, and Gaslight, as well as popular web series including Broken But Beautiful, Criminal Justice, and Mirzapur.
While his decision to retire has left fans disheartened, Massey's note reflects a desire to prioritize his personal life. "It’s a bittersweet moment," a fan wrote, capturing the sentiment of many.
