Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has achieved the joint-highest rating points for a Test bowler from India, reaching 904 after his performance in the third Test against Australia in Melbourne.
Bumrah’s nine-wicket haul in the match propelled him 14 points higher, equaling Ravichandran Ashwin’s December 2016 record.
Bumrah, currently leading the ICC Test Bowling Rankings, now holds a commanding 48-point lead over second-ranked Kagiso Rabada (856) of South Africa, with Australia’s Josh Hazlewood (852) in third. Bumrah has claimed 21 wickets in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship series, underlining his dominance.
India’s Mohammad Siraj has also moved up one place to 24th, while Australia’s Travis Head has entered the top 100 bowlers.
In the batting rankings, Head climbed to fourth following his knock of 152 in the first innings, surpassing India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. England’s Joe Root retains the top spot. Steve Smith re-entered the top 10 with a century, and Alex Carey advanced to 29th after consistent performances.
The ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings also saw notable advancements. Pakistan’s Saim Ayub rose 57 places to 23rd after scoring two centuries in the series against South Africa, while Heinrich Klaasen of South Africa returned to the top five.
In T20I rankings, Bangladesh’s Mahedi Hasan broke into the top 10 for bowlers, and West Indies’ Roston Chase climbed to 13th, highlighting a week of significant shifts across all formats.
