The Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) denounced the Trump administration’s actions targeting immigrants and legal permanent residents.

In a statement, CAPAC highlighted that the Trump administration is seeking to deport legal permanent residents without due process, revoking birthright citizenship, and defying the judicial decisions it disagrees with.

Calling it an “unprecedented assault on our constitutional rights and the rule of law,” CAPAC said, “The danger of such actions—and the threat they pose to our democracy—cannot be overstated.”

The caucus warned that the administration’s policies undermine fundamental rights enshrined in the U.S. Constitution, particularly the right to due process. It accused the administration of using authoritarian tactics to scapegoat immigrant communities and noted the invocation of a law historically used to incarcerate Japanese Americans during World War II.

“President Trump’s actions are ripping families apart and sending a chilling message that no one is safe—not even legal permanent residents who pay their taxes, contribute to the economy, and have called this country home for years,” CAPAC said in a statement.

With many Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders being foreign-born, CAPAC emphasized that the community is at heightened risk under these policies. The caucus urged all Americans to take a stand, warning that continued erosion of constitutional rights could set a dangerous precedent. “We must take a stand to ensure we remain a nation of laws, not one ruled by a king,” CAPAC stated.
