INDICA, in partnership with Chinmaya Mission, is set to host a  panel discussion on “Storytelling in the Hindu Tradition,” exploring India’s ancient and enduring knowledge systems. The panel will highlight the role of the Katha-Pravachan Parampara, a storytelling tradition credited with preserving and disseminating Indic knowledge across generations.

The panel aims to underscore the importance of storytelling in preserving cultural values and knowledge within the Hindu tradition, an approach which, as participants hope to illustrate, resonates well beyond India’s borders.

The panelists include Aditi Banerjee, author of bestselling novels like The Curse of Gandhari and The Vow of Parvati, is also a practising attorney and executive MBA graduate from Columbia University. Known for her contributions to Hindu literature and thought, Banerjee’s works reflect her deep engagement with Hindu traditions and the Hindu-American experience.

Joining her will be Deepa Bhaskaran Salem, an advocate of Advaita Vedanta and author of Adideva - 25 Legends Behind His 25 Names. Salem, who also conducts workshops on Hindu dharma and mental health, will share insights from her diverse experiences in Hindu studies, technology marketing, and life coaching for youth.

Manjula Tekal, a novelist and translator, is known for her works like Devayani, a story based on the Mahabharata set in pre-Rigvedic times. She brings to the table a unique perspective on interpreting ancient stories and has translated numerous works of historical and cultural significance.

Pranshu Saxena, a software manager and history enthusiast, also joins the lineup. Known for his writings on history and mythology, Saxena educates young people in New Jersey on Indian culture. His background includes studies at institutions like Delhi University and Cambridge, grounding him in both Western and Eastern historical traditions.

Rounding out the panel is Avatans Kumar, a celebrated linguist, award-winning columnist, and leader within the Indic community in the U.S. Kumar has authored The Flight of Deities and contributed to works analyzing India’s contemporary renaissance under Prime Minister Modi. He has received multiple awards for his journalistic contributions and actively promotes Indic thought and heritage through his leadership role at INDICA.
