North Carolina based supplier of aerospace and defense products, Collins Aerospace, a subsidiary of RTX, has inaugurated its new Engineering Development and Test Center (EDTC) on the company's North Gate location in Bengaluru, India.
The facility is intended to speed product testing and development, bolstering India's position as a global aerospace powerhouse.

The cutting-edge EDTC houses specialized testing equipment replicating difficult operating circumstances such as high altitudes, temperature fluctuations, vibration, and electromagnetic interference. The company hopes to speed up the certification process, lower costs, and improve product reliability by doing these tests locally.
“The aerospace industry is evolving at an incredible pace, and this new center gives us the capability to support that evolution by making the testing and certification process faster and more efficient,” said Clay Lindwall, senior vice president of Engineering and Technology at Collins Aerospace.
“The EDTC strengthens our ability to deliver high-quality, mission-critical systems that meet the needs of customers in India and around the world,” Lindwall added.
The EDTC will first serve Collins Aerospace's avionics, advanced structures, interiors, and power and controls businesses. Future expansion objectives include bringing together all RTX businesses to improve aerospace and defense applications.
Savyasachi Srinivas, vice president of global engineering and technology centers at Collins Aerospace, stressed the importance of the investment. “This EDTC is a major milestone – not just for Collins Aerospace but for India's aerospace industry, creating highly-skilled jobs and supporting the ‘Make in India’ initiative’. This investment brings advanced testing capabilities closer to where engineering and manufacturing happen and recognizes the country's strategic importance in the global supply chain."
Collins Aerospace has been working in India for almost two decades, employing over 6,000 people in engineering, digital, manufacturing, and supply chain operations.
