Community leaders behind Altaf Bukhari for Maine Township polls

A fundraising event supporting Altaf Bukhari and the Republican slate of Maine Township Trustee candidates was held on Feb.28, 2025, at the Golf Maine Park District in Niles, Illinois. The event, attended by business and community leaders, saw strong endorsements for Bukhari and his fellow candidates ahead of the upcoming township elections.

Bukhari, running for Maine Township Trustee under the Republicans of Maine Township (ROMT), emphasized his commitment to transparency, fiscal responsibility, and improving local infrastructure. His campaign focuses on supporting small businesses, fostering community development, and enhancing the quality of life in Des Plaines, Park Ridge, Niles, Glenview, Morton Grove, and unincorporated areas. With early voting beginning on March 17 and Election Day set for Apr.1, he urged residents to participate in shaping the township’s future.

Endorsements from community leaders

Prominent members of the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) and other local organizations attended the event to express their support. FIA Founder and chairman Sunil Shah commended the candidates, including Bukhari, David Frank, and Slobodan "Bodo" Jokic, for their dedication.

FIA past president Keerthi Ravoori highlighted the significant role of the Asian American community in the upcoming elections, praising Bukhari’s grassroots leadership and public service.

Hitesh Gandhi, also a past FIA president, underscored the importance of early voting. "We need to ensure strong leadership for Maine Township. I urge everyone to vote for the four Republican candidates, including Altaf Bukhari," he said.

Jim Stinson, addressing the audience, spoke about the challenges of running for public office. He stressed the candidates’ focus on public safety, quality education, and responsible governance, encouraging early voting participation.

Cecil Joseph, CEO of IDF USA, praised Bukhari’s leadership, calling him a "local man with a national voice, fit to be trusted as Trustee." He emphasised Bukhari’s ability to connect with people and address critical issues like security, education, and infrastructure.

Anjali Agarwal shared her personal experiences with Bukhari’s humility and dedication, describing the overwhelming community support he has received. "He is a servant leader, and every vote matters in shaping the future of Maine Township," she said.

Mahesh Kumar echoed similar sentiments, pointing to the grassroots enthusiasm for Bukhari’s campaign. "His credibility and commitment to the community are unmatched. He is the right choice to lead Maine Township into a prosperous future," he said.

Ajeet Singh acknowledged the widespread support Bukhari has garnered across Chicagoland. "Despite arriving late, I made it a point to be here and wish him success. His leadership has earned the trust of many," he said.

Several community figures, including Pinky Thakkar, Dinesh Thakkar, Pradeep Shukla, Naresh Shah, Ajanta Talukdar, Prashant Mohanty, Onkar Sangha, Mittal Patel, Smitesh Shah, and Bharti Desai, also took the stage to voice their support for Bukhari and his team.

Suresh Bodiwala, chairman of Asian Media USA, called for unity among Asian American voters. "Altaf is the only winning candidate with all the necessary qualities. I urge the Asian community to come together and vote early on March 17 or on Election Day, April 1, 2025," he said.
