Leading pharmaceutical company, CVS Health has promoted Indian-American executive Prem Shah as group president, expanding his leadership role within the company to oversee CVS Caremark, CVS Pharmacy, and the Health Care Delivery businesses.
Shah will continue to report to CVS Health president and CEO David Joyner. His promotion, effective immediately, reflects CVS Health's focus on integrated health solutions and optimized operational performance, a statement from the company said.
In his new role, Shah will focus on creating seamless value across CVS's diverse business segments, including pharmacy benefits, retail pharmacy, and health care delivery. Most recently, he served as executive vice president and chief pharmacy officer, as well as president of pharmacy and consumer wellness. In this role, he developed the company’s omnichannel pharmacy strategy, integrating digital and in-store experiences to provide convenient and personalized care.
"Prem is a strong operator and innovator with deep experience across our businesses, and in his role, he will help me and the rest of our leadership team drive improvements in our financial and operational performance across our company," said CEO Joyner. "I am confident in the future of our integrated model, and that Prem and Steve's leadership will help further position us to deliver greater value from our integrated business model."
Shah's professional journey includes serving as senior vice president at ICORE, a division of Magellan Health Services, and leading the startup of the Specialty Pharmacy division at WellCare Health Plans, Inc. He holds a Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Florida and serves on the board for Red Oak Sourcing.
