Democrat Suhas Subramanyam has won Virginia's 10th Congressional District race, defeating Republican Mike Clancy. This victory made Subramanyam the first Indian-American elected to Congress from the East Coast.
Subramanyam got 206870 votes (52.1 percent). his rival Republican Mike Clancy got 190099 votes (47.9 percent). He has pledged to advocate for Virginia’s infrastructure funding and protect federal workers from government shutdowns.
Subramanyam took to X to share his feelings, “I am honored and humbled that the people of Virginia’s 10th District put their trust in me to take on the toughest fights and deliver results in Congress. This district is my home. I got married here, my wife Miranda and I are raising our daughters here, and the issues our community faces are personal to our family. It is an honor to continue serving this district in Washington.”

Previously, he served as a tech policy adviser under President Obama and was the first Indian-American elected to both the Virginia House and Senate. He received support from outgoing Representative Jennifer Wexton, who endorsed him before announcing her retirement due to health issues.
Wexton congratulated Subramanyam on X, writing, ‘I couldn’t be prouder to call Suhas my next Congressman and to have him carry on my legacy fighting for the families of #VA10.”
