India’s Deputy Consul General in New York, Varun Jeph, was honored at a farewell ceremony in Massachusetts for his dedicated service over the past four years.
The event was hosted at the home of Mohan and Shyama Nannapaneni, founders of Team Aid, and organized by the Foundation of Indian Americans – New England (FIA-NE) and Team Aid.

Community leaders from nearly 25 Indian American organizations across New England gathered to recognize Jeph’s contributions, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Among his accomplishments were the safe repatriation of Indian nationals, support for consular camps, and the initiation of the International India Day Parade in Boston Harbor.
DCG Jeph also played a role in the announcement of a new Indian consulate in Boston, as promised by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
FIA-NE president Abhishek Singh commended Jeph’s leadership, particularly in assisting stranded Indian students and advancing consular services. Team Aid president Mohan Nannapaneni praised Jeph’s commitment to collaboration with community organizations.
In his reflections, Jeph emphasized the close relationships he developed with the Indian American community and affirmed that the new embassy in Boston would open in the upcoming months.
Notable guests at the ceremony included IAB president Deepa Agarwal, VHPA president Kaushik Patel, FIA-BOT delegate Sandeep Asija, IAGB president Tanu Phenix, and New Hampshire State delegate Santosh Salvi. Other leaders from the Bengali Association, Adopt-a-Village, Ayoti Foundation, Ekal Vidyalaya, and Gurudwara Committee were also present.
