The Fayetteville-Cumberland Human Relations Commission is now accepting nominations for the 2025 Community Awards. This annual event honors individuals and organizations that make a positive difference in the lives of others and promote good relationships in Fayetteville and Cumberland County.
There are nine categories for nominations, each highlighting a different aspect of community service and leadership. These include Youth, Individual, Lifetime Achievement, Humanitarian, Industry/Business, Educator, Military, Religious Leader, and Organization. The Commission is seeking nominations for those whose efforts have contributed to the betterment of the community through acts of kindness, leadership, volunteerism, and innovation.
All nominations must be submitted by Jan.10, 2025.
Yamile Nazar, director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, emphasized the importance of these awards in honoring community changemakers.
Nazar said, “The community awards are the perfect opportunity to recognize those who are making a difference in our community. Whether through acts of kindness, leadership, volunteerism, or innovation, each recipient has left a positive impact on our residents.”
The award winners will be celebrated at the Annual Community Recognition Awards Luncheon, set for Feb.13, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the Cape Fear Botanical Garden (536 N. Eastern Blvd., Fayetteville). Tickets for the luncheon will be available starting on Dec 23, priced at US$35. They can be purchased in person at the Human Relations Office, located at 225 Ray Ave, Suite 100, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets must be purchased by Feb.4, 2025.
