Florida-based Jabil to establish electronics manufacturing hub in Trichy

Jabil Inc, a Florida-based electronics manufacturing firm has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu state government as part of its planned expansion in India.
The signing took place in Chicago and was attended by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin and Minister for Industries Dr. T R B Rajaa who are leading the state’s investment campaign in the United States.

The expansion, involving an investment of approximately US$ 240 million (Rs 2000 crore), is expected to create 5,000 jobs and establish Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) as a major electronics manufacturing hub, complementing its existing facility in Pune, Maharashtra, which has been operational since 2003.
“India is emerging as a key manufacturing hub. Our expansion in India will enable Jabil to meet and grow with the future needs of our customers,” said Matt Crowley, executive vice president, Global Business Units at Jabil.
Chief Minister Stalin expressed optimism about the investment's impact on Tamil Nadu’s economy. “Jabil’s foray into Tiruchirappalli will be a crucial anchor investment, leading to job creation and the emergence of a robust electronics supply chain,” he said. Stalin added that the investment underscores the state’s infrastructure and talent availability, further enhancing its position as a leader in advanced electronics and innovation.
The agreement comes as Tamil Nadu continues to secure significant foreign investments, including Rockwell Automation’s US$ 80 million (Rs 666 crore) expansion in Kanchipuram, and an MoU with Autodesk to boost skills development and support MSMEs and startups.
