Four Indian Americans, journalist Bijal Trivedi, computer scientist Dr. Swarat Chaudhuri, anthropologist Tulasi Srinivas, and physicist Saurabh Jha have been named among the 100 distinguished recipients of this year’s John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Fellowships. The fellowships, awarded annually since 1925, recognize individuals whose work has already made a significant mark and who show exceptional promise for future achievement.
This year’s cohort, the Foundation’s 100th class, was chosen from nearly 3,500 applicants, spanning 53 disciplines, 83 academic institutions, and 32 states across the U.S., along with two Canadian provinces. The fellows range in age from 32 to 79, and notably, more than a third do not hold full-time academic posts.
