The Indic Film Festival commenced its celebrations in Dallas with a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at the iconic Gandhi Memorial.
Sesha Sindhu Rao, producer of the Telugu movie Gandhi Thatha Chettu, along with independent filmmaker Danji Thotapalli and Festival director Christian Frost, visited the memorial on Nov. 14. They were joined by community leaders, including D. Srinivas and AK Naidu, to honor Gandhiji's legacy.
The team was warmly welcomed and felicitated by Prasad Thotakura, founder chairman of the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial, along with secretary Rao Kalvala and governing board member Ananth Mallavarapu.
The festival's highlight is the premiere of Gandhi Thatha Chettu, produced by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings. The screening is scheduled for November 16 at 6 PM at the Galaxy @ Grandscape in Colony City, DFW Metroplex.
Directed by Padmavathi Malladi, Gandhi Thatha Chettu is a moving tale of environmental stewardship and Gandhian values. The story follows a young girl, played by Sukriti Veni Bandreddi, on her mission to save her grandfather’s beloved tree, symbolizing heritage and harmony. This thought-provoking film resonates with themes of intergenerational connection, the power of nonviolence, and the importance of preserving nature, making it a must-watch for all.
