Gandhian Society commemorates Gandhi’s 155th birth anniversary 

The ceremony featured a vegan meal and an elucidation of the benefits of this lifestyle.

The Gandhian Society, in collaboration with the Consulate General of India in New York, marked Mahatma Gandhi’s 155th birth anniversary with a prayer meet and Raas Garba event on Oct.4, 2024. 

The event took place at the Bharat Sevashram in Kendall Park, NJ, drawing over 150 attendees.

Pragnya Singh, Consul for Visa/Passport and community affairs, present on the occasion, appreciated the Gandhian Society for its steadfast dedication to promoting Gandhi’s messages. 

Anil Narang from World Vegan Vision highlighted the importance of embracing a vegan lifestyle and sponsored a vegan meal for the attendees. 

Dr. Geeta Mehta, a professor of Gandhian Philosophy, delivered a speech emphasizing the relevance of Gandhian principles in today’s era of rapid technological advancements and global conflicts.

The event began with a solemn prayer meet, led by Gandhian Society founder Mr. Bhadra Butala, before transitioning into a lively cultural celebration. 

The Raas Garba performance, led by Varsha Joshi and the musicians from Josh Musicals, energized the crowd, with participants joining in the festivities.

The Gandhian Society expressed its gratitude to the volunteers, attendees, and sponsors for their contributions to the event's success.
