GAPIO conference highlights advances in healthcare
The event brought together physicians from over 50 countries to the American University of Antigua College of Medicine campus in Antigua and Barbados.

The Global Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (GAPIO) 12th mid-year conference brought together physicians from over 50 countries to discuss the recent advances and current trends in the healthcare industry
The conference hosted on the American University of Antigua College of Medicine (AUA) campus, earlier this month, focused on the theme: "Advantages and Challenges of Offshore Medical Education and Recent Advances and Challenges in Healthcare."

Major emphasis was laid on the unique benefits and hurdles faced by medical institutions operating offshore. Topics covered ranged from the influence of medical schools like AUA in the Caribbean on the present physician shortage to the international scope of medical education, the standard of medical education, and the variety of clinical experiences accessible to students from various parts of the world.
The effects of climate change on international health were the subject of a noteworthy presentation by Dr. Leslie Walwyn, AUA's associate dean of Global Health. A global perspective on the impact of environmental changes on health outcomes and the measures to lessen these impacts was presented by Dr. Walwyn. Apart from this, the event also included several interactive panels and discussions.
Dr. Sudhir Parikh, vice president of GAPIO expressed his satisfaction with the successful conclusion of the conference. "It was a great GAPIO midyear conference. The conference was well organized and very resourceful. In addition, AUA’s hospitality was excellent and was very informative. Thanks to AUA’s leadership, especially the current president, Dr Peter bell and former president Neil Simon"
