Harvard defies Trump $2.3 billion funding freeze

Harvard University hit back at the Trump administration on Apr.14, standing firm against what it called an overreach of federal power after the White House froze $2.3 billion in federal funds — a move widely seen as political retaliation.

In a sharply worded letter to the U.S. Department of Education, Harvard’s lawyers rejected the administration’s demands, which included dismantling its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs and cracking down on student protests.
