Missouri based non-profit organization, HindiUSA Saint Louis celebrated India’s rich legacy at the third annual “Our History, Our Identity,” event
The two-and-a-half-hour program focused on the lives and contributions of India’s historical leaders, reformers, and freedom fighters. Over 450 attendees, including families, dignitaries, and community members, attended the event.

Among the special guests were Vinod Gautam, council head of community affairs at the Indian Consulate in Chicago, and Gary Budoor, council member from the City of Chesterfield.
The event featured dramatizations of iconic figures from Indian history — including Chandragupta Maurya, Emperor Ashoka, Prithviraj Chauhan, Maharana Pratap, Tanaji Malusare, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and Rani Lakshmibai — alongside tributes to reformers like Savitribai Phule and Mahatma Gandhi.
A patriotic performance honoring India’s armed forces and a closing act titled “Spirit of India,” performed by HindiUSA teachers, added to the event’s resonance.
A landmark moment during the event saw five students honored with the Seal of Biliteracy in Hindi, including two recipients of the Advanced Seal — marking a first for the state of Missouri. The milestone was described as a testament to the dedication of students, families, and educators working collectively to advance the Hindi language.
Started seven years ago by Mayank Jain and Dr. Anshu Jain, HindiUSA Saint Louis has grown into the Midwest’s largest volunteer-run Hindi language school, powered by over 65 volunteers and a shared commitment to preserving cultural roots
