'India 12th in global cuisines list'
India ranks 12th in TasteAtlas's 2024/25 list of the ‘100 Best Cuisines in the World’ surpassing countries like the United States, Peru, Brazil, and Germany.

Indian food has surpassed prominent dishes from countries such as the United States, Peru, Brazil, Germany, South Korea, and Australia, to rank 12th in TasteAtlas’s 2024/25 list of the ‘100 Best Cuisines in the World’.
TasteAtlas, a comprehensive food guide, has released its list of the "100 Best Cuisines in the World" for 2024/25. This ranking is based on the average ratings of each country's top 50 dishes and food products, reflecting global culinary preferences.
While Italy, which held the top spot in 2023, dropped to second place, the rankings were determined by 477,287 valid ratings for 15,478 foods in TasteAtlas's database, with cuisines ranked based on their average scores.

The has highlighted Indian dishes like Amritsari Kulcha, Butter Garlic Naan, Hyderabadi Biryani, and Murgh Makhani (Butter Chicken) as must-try specialties.
Additionally, Mumbai was ranked 5th in the "100 Best Cities in the World to Visit in 2025 for Local Food," with Amritsar and Hyderabad also earning spots in the top 50.
India’s high ranking in the global cuisine list is also credited to its iconic spice blend, Garam Masala. This popular mix, made from spices like cinnamon and cardamom, is a staple in Indian kitchens and features in most recipes. TasteAtlas has recognized Garam Masala as a must-try, giving it an impressive rating of 4.6 out of 5.
Murgh Makhani (Butter Chicken) has secured the 29th spot, while Hyderabadi Biryani is ranked 31st in the list of the 100 best dishes in the world.
The guide also highlighted some of the best traditional Indian restaurants, including Dum Pukht in New Delhi, Mavalli Tiffin Rooms in Bengalure, and Tunday Kababi in Lucknow.
Meanwhile, in the 100 Best Cuisines in the World list, the US has ranked 13th, followed by Peru and Serbia.
