India USA wins U19 Womens T20 World Cup openers

India defeated West Indies by nine wickets; USA beat Ireland by nine wickets in ICC U19.

India and the United States began their ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup campaigns with commanding victories, showcasing their intent to dominate the tournament being held in Malaysia. 

Reigning champions India defeated the West Indies by nine wickets in Kuala Lumpur while USA recorded a historic nine-wicket win over Ireland in Johor. 

Opting to field, India’s bowlers dismantled the Windies lineup, restricting them to 44 runs in 13.2 overs. Parunika Sisodia led the attack with 3-7, while VJ Joshitha claimed 2-5.

Despite losing opener Gongadi Trisha early, India’s chase was brisk. Sanika Chalke (18 not out) and G Kamalini (16 not out) secured the target in just 4.2 overs.

Meanwhile, Ireland struggled against USA’s disciplined bowling, managing only 75 runs in 17.4 overs. Isani Vaghela took 3-10, while Aditi Chudasama added two wickets. Disha

Dhingra starred in the chase, scoring 46 off 33 balls, including seven boundaries. Her opening stand with Chetna Reddy Pagydyala (23 not out) ensured the USA’s victory in just 9.4 overs.

“Being the champions last time, we are just coming in with that confidence,” Indian captain Niki Prasad said. “And we are here to win so that is what we will try to do every game.

India’s dominant display reaffirmed their status as title contenders, while the USA’s performance marked a significant milestone in their cricketing journey. Both teams will aim to build on these strong starts as the tournament progresses.

Team India is set to face Malaysia on Jan 21, and Team USA is set to face England on Jan 22.
