Indian American body condemns media bias against Tulsi Gabbard

Indian American Friendship Council (IAFC) condemned The Washington Post for labeling Tulsi Gabbard’s Hindu faith a "cult," calling it an insult to 1.7 billion Hindus and religious freedom.

Dr. Krishna Reddy, founder and president of Indian American Friendship Council (IAFC), said the  Indian American community is outraged by media attacks on Tulsi Gabbard, alleging her Hindu faith has been mischaracterized as a "cult" by The Washington Post.

He stated on Nov. 29  that such statements not only insult Gabbard but also the 1.7 billion-strong global Hindu community, undermining religious freedom.

Tulsi Gabbard is a battle-hardened soldier; an experienced Congressional Representative, who participated in and led various Congressional Committees, he said, adding that as the Director of Intelligence, Tulsi will bring "great security for all Americans".

Calling her a true patriot, Reddy said: "With no trace of evidence, the media has heinously called her a traitor, a Russian Spy, Trojan Horse. Tulsi truly represents the Home of the Brave."

He criticized the newspaper's owner who he said "reaps monumental profits through Amazon, India while promoting dangerous anti-Hindu hate rhetoric in Washington Post".
