Indian-American community celebrates women leaders at JFK Library

FIA New England honored exceptional Indian-American women leaders with a recognition ceremony.

The Foundation of Indian-Americans (FIA) New England hosted the International Women’s Day 2025 celebration at the iconic John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum on Mar. 8. The event brought together women leaders from diverse fields to honor their exceptional contributions to society. 

In an interactive video session, accomplished women leaders shared their personal experiences and reflections. Drawing inspiration from JFK's iconic speech, “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country,” the theme of the discussion emphasized service, leadership, and dedication.

FIA executive team members Manisha Kumar, Anupama Debroy, Dr. Lakshmi Thalanki, Piyusha, and Vishant Mahajan moderated the session, creating a dynamic and engaging atmosphere for attendees.

The event continued with an official honoring ceremony, during which Irena Victoria King read the International Women's Day Governor’s Proclamation aloud and shared a special message from Honorable Joe Kennedy III. 

A heartfelt congratulations was given to all the women leaders honored, whose work spans multiple fields, including entrepreneurship, education, healthcare, arts, fashion, community service, and more. Their leadership and commitment to making a difference continue to inspire positive change across the world. The honorees included:

  • Shefali Desai Kalyani—Dedicated to Feeding the Homeless & Supporting Food Pantries
  • Dr. Charu Patel—Mental Healthcare Professional
  • Pratibha Ayurved—Ayurveda Research & Scholarship
  • Sunaina Chauhan—Leadership in Education, Supporting Underprivileged Families
  • Manisha Jain Jain—Leadership in Education for Underprivileged Children
  • Neela Gandhi Gandhi—Over Three Decades of Community Service
  • Ekta Jaina Jain—Remarkable Contributions in Music & Arts
  • Meetu Gupta—Philanthropy & Social Work
  • Divya Salhi—Contributions in Philanthropy and Community Service
  • Vasudha Kudrimoti—Creative Media
  • Neeharika Munjal—Youth Mentorship
  • Nagasree Chakka—Women & Children Empowerment
  • Java Mehta Joshi—Promoting Creative Arts and Culture
  • Yogita Miharia—Creative Arts and Culture
  • Dhaniben Patel-Manisha Patel—Philanthropy & Community Service

The FIA team, led by MCs Priyanka Wadhwa and Jyoti Singh, presented the honorees with a memento and an award, celebrating the commitment to their respective fields.

Special thanks were extended to Governor Maura Healey, Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, and Joe Kennedy III for their leadership and unwavering support, as well as to the FIA Women executives for ensuring the grand success of this event.

FIA New England is a nonprofit organization committed to empowering Indian-American individuals, especially women, in various fields of leadership, community service, and entrepreneurship.
