Indian American Impact, a nonprofit advocating for the voices of Indian Americans, South Asians, and historically excluded communities, issued a powerful statement on the inauguration of Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States expressing its commitment to democratic values and social equity.
“Today, while we honor the enduring tradition of the peaceful transfer of power—a cornerstone of our democratic values—we reaffirm our commitment to protecting the rights and freedoms of all Americans,” Chintan Patel, executive director of Indian American Impact, said.
Addressing the challenges posed by political polarization, Patel highlighted the organization's concerns about the effects of divisive rhetoric. “The racism and xenophobia unleashed by the MAGA movement is deeply troubling, especially for communities of color, immigrants, and other marginalized groups,” he said. “As South Asian Americans, we recognize the urgency of standing against extremism in all its forms and defending the values of inclusion, equality, and justice.”
The statement emphasized the organization’s resolve to counter extremism and foster a society that reflects diversity and shared values. “Indian American Impact is resolute in its mission to build a more just and equitable future for all. We will continue to mobilize our community, hold leaders accountable, and push for solutions that move us toward a society that lives up to its highest ideals,” Patel affirmed.
