Aroh Barjatya, a professor in the Department of Physical Sciences at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU), Florida, has been honored with the Eagle Research Award for his significant research accomplishments.
The Eagle Research Award, presented by the ERAU Research Award Program recognizes faculty members who achieve significant research funding and implement impactful programs. Barjatya’s innovative research contributes to advancing aerospace technologies and addressing challenges in space science and engineering.
Barjatya, who also serves as the director of the Space and Atmospheric Instrumentation Lab (SAIL), achieved $1 million in research expenditures during the 2024 fiscal year. His work spans small satellites, sounding rockets, high-altitude balloons, spacecraft charging, embedded electronics, space situational awareness and space systems engineering.
He currently serves on the NASA Heliophysics Advisory Committee and NASA Space Environment Technical Definition Team, and a past member of NASA Sounding Rocket Working Group.
Under his leadership, the SAIL team conducts research that informs the development of space systems and technologies critical to scientific and commercial applications. His contributions support Embry-Riddle’s mission to drive innovation in aerospace and engineering fields.
“At Embry‑Riddle, we always seek to strengthen and promote the groundbreaking innovation and the world-changing impact of our faculty and research scientists, and these awards exemplify that commitment,” said the university president P. Barry Butler, adding “The honorees have secured pioneering patents, earned significant research funding, and guided students. My congratulations to all seven faculty members receiving these well-deserved accolades.”
Barjatya holds a Ms and PhD from Utah State University.
