The Consulate General of India, San Francisco, in partnership with VFS Global, a technology outsourcing company for governments, organized the first consular camp at the temple of the International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), Hawaii.

Last week's event, held in association with the Indian-American Friendship Council of Hawaii Chapter (IAFC) and ISKCON Hawaii, was part of the "Consulate at Your Doorstep" initiative to enhance accessibility to consular services for the Indian community.

The program, which drew significant participation from the Indian community, began with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting by Consul General K. Srikar Reddy, followed by a guided tour of the ISKCON temple led by vice-president Sundarnanda Das.

Reddy addressed attendees, highlighting the consulate’s commitment to supporting the diaspora and encouraging community members to reach out for assistance with consular services such as passports, visas, Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) cards, and power of attorney documentation.

Reddy expressed his gratitude to IAFC Hawaii Chapter president Raj Kumar and ISKCON Hawaii for their pivotal roles in organizing the event.

During his visit,  Reddy paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi by draping a traditional Hawaiian lei and offering flowers at Gandhi’s statue in Waikiki. He also met with Hawaii Governor Josh Green and State Senator Mike Gabbard at the State Capitol, fostering dialogue to strengthen ties.

The IAFC Hawaii Chapter, supported by its leadership and members, along with representatives of the Gandhi International Institute for Peace (GIIP), contributed to the event's success.
