Indian Consulate in Atlanta launches ODOP to celebrate India’s art and craft

Featuring handcrafted items from Indian states and union territories, One District, One Product (ODOP) Corner promotes traditional crafts and empowers local artisans on a global platform.

The Consulate General of India in Atlanta launched One District, One Product (ODOP) Corner within its Chancery premises on Nov. 26. This initiative highlights India's diverse traditional crafts. 

U.S. Congressman Dr. Rich McCormick led the inauguration, which was graced by the presence of State Senators, local leaders, and members of the vibrant 
Indian-American community.

India is rich in crafts and art, with a history spanning thousands of years. Its diverse culture and traditions have created unique artistic expressions across its regions. The ODOP initiative, a flagship program of the Government of India, aims to showcase the unique artisanal products of India’s states and union territories on a global platform. The newly established corner features an array of handcrafted items, reflecting the rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship of India.

During the event, the Consul General emphasized the critical role of the Indian diaspora in promoting ODOP products internationally. He encouraged attendees to support the initiative in their personal and professional endeavors, thereby contributing to the empowerment of local artisans and fostering sustainable development.
 



India in Atlanta officially shared the news on X, stating, “The ODOP Corner features a curated collection of items representing every state and union territory of India, reflecting the nation’s rich diversity and unparalleled craftsmanship. This flagship program from India serves as a testament to the country’s commitment to preserving and celebrating its artisanal heritage.”
